Bruce Cox Imports has proudly served the Bellingham area since 1995, built from the ground up by Bruce Cox and his family. Bruce discovered his passion for automotive technology at Renton Vocational College and became a Master Certified technician working for Chevrolet, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW in Seattle. Desiring to raise a family where he grew up in Whatcom County, Bruce moved to Bellingham with his wife and daughter in 1989 and began work as a technician at the local Volvo dealership.

 

With encouragement from family and the determination to serve Bellingham with high quality auto care, Bruce opened his own shop and dealership on State Street in June of 1995. Initially specializing in Volvo service and sales, Bruce worked to develop a customer base and earn the trust of drivers in Whatcom County.

The business steadily grew, attracting talented employees, many of whom remain integral parts of the team today. Over the years, Bruce Cox Imports expanded its automotive expertise beyond Volvo to include Subaru, Lexus, Toyota, and many other makes.

 

Bruce’s son, Charlie, worked as a detailer and cleaner at the shop throughout high school and college, and after graduating college in 2014, he joined the team full-time in the Parts and Service departments. In 2019, Bruce faced significant health challenges, prompting his son to step into a leadership role. Bruce sadly passed away in December 2020, but his legacy lives on through the continued dedication and commitment to quality service upheld by the entire Bruce Cox Imports team.

 

Today, Bruce Cox Imports remains rooted in family values, exceptional customer care, and automotive excellence—a homegrown business that generations have trusted and continue to rely on.
