Bruce Cox Imports has a deep background in the service and repair business. Bruce graduated from Renton Vocational Technical Institute with a certificate in Automotive Technology in 1982. Upon graduation, he went to work for a Chevrolet dealer in downtown Seattle. In 1984 he joined the service department at Phil Smart Mercedes and BMW to get his first exposure to European automotive concepts. In 1990, he moved his young family to his nearly native Whatcom County and went to work for Import Motors, the local franchised Volvo Dealer.
In the spring of 1995, Bruce realized he was ready to apply his own concepts of running a business. Bruce acquired the original State Street location, cleaned up the building and in June of 1995 opened Bruce Cox Imports as a service facility. He knew that he wanted to specialize in Volvo repair work, but wanted to assure a place in the market so he began to offer a few select, preowned Volvos. He began his second career of car sales with no experience. Many of our clients believe this lack of the common sales training to be what sets us apart from the rest of the pack! In January of 1996, Bruce convinced his long time friend and fellow technician, Fred Yockim, to join him in his young endeavor. They set about to craft a high quality service department applying their combined experience of fifty years.
